Large-fruited Pumpkin "Big Max".
Fruits up to 20 kg with dense and juicy flesh.
Late-ripening variety: 125-130 days from germination to full maturity. A vigorous, climbing plant.
Fruit characteristics: Round, segmented, smooth, dark orange with cream-colored spots. Weight typically 4-6 kg, but can reach 18-20 kg with proper care.
Flesh: Orange, medium density and juiciness. Excellent for baking, boiling, purees, and juices.
Storage: Good transportability and keeping quality.
Agrotechnics:
Best soils are sandy loam and light loam. Sow when soil warms up to +10+12°C (depth 5-10 cm).
Planting scheme for climbing varieties: 1.4 x 1.0 m. Care includes pinching side shoots and the main stem (leave 2-3 ovaries for large fruits), watering, and feeding.
Tips for growing GIANT PUMPKIN (Cucurbita maxima):
* Location: Pumpkins need warmth and humus-rich soil. An ideal spot is next to a compost pile. Roots absorb nutrients, while large leaves provide shade for the compost.
* Sowing and Planting: Can be sown directly into the ground (mid-May under film) or grown via seedlings (sow mid-April). Transplant to open ground in late May when frost danger has passed.
* Care: Water requirement is extremely high. Manure applied in autumn creates a good foundation. In summer, perform 2 more organic feedings (e.g., nettle tea).
* Harvest: To get the largest fruits possible, keep them on the vine until the first night frosts. Then store in a cool place.
